"A legend of Rohan"
Images and tales from the Riddermark
Modified on June 7th, 2005
Participation
Anyone over 13 years old[*] can attend the contest; the participant must send, with his submissions, the following data: name, surname, postal address, email, date of birth.
Any person can participate with a maximum of three (3) photographs.
Both color and black/white are allowed. Digital retouch is allowed as long as it's minimal and doesn't modify the original nature of the image (brightness/contrast, levels etc.); submissions with an excess of 'digitalization' will be rejected.
The photos must be autographical (made by the submitter) and original for the contest, taken in the year; they mustn't have been used in other contests or shows; the author must possess the rights to the image.
Each image must be accompanied by a title which allows to identify it and to evaluate whether or not it is pertinent with the theme of the contest.
The photos must be submitted before the end of July 21st, 2005.
[*] members of the committee and jury are excluded
Submission delivery
For each submission the participant must send:
- a 20x30cm (8x12 inches) print on photographic paper
- a high-resolution file (film scan or from digital camera, 2400*3600 or higher) in a format preserving the color profile (JPG with color profile, TIFF, PSD)
Read here for informations on how to scan your image and how to send your images to the committee.
The prints must be sent at the following address:
(removed)Note: you can send your prints using online printing services like Photocity.it/com or similar. This is probably cheaper if you live outside of Italy.
Voting
When the submission time expires, a quality jury will select the 10 finalists among all the candiates.
The decisions of the jury cannot be objected.
The finalists will be exposed on the contest website, and a public vote will decide who the winners are.
To be impartial (as much as possible) the photos will appear in strict alphabetic order, identified only by their name, without indication of the author.
The voters will be allowed to vote ONE preference among all the finalists.
Prizegiving
The prizegiving, with a show of the originals, will happen during the "EDORAS - Da Tolkien a Matilde" event; the date is to be finalized, but is presumably around the end of september.
The winners will be contacted as soon as possible. If you can't attend we'll contact you about the delivery of your prize.
The prizes so far are:
- 50$ gift certificate
- 30$ gift certificate
- 20$ gift certificate
The gift certificates will be spendable on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk, at the winner's choice; the value in pounds will be calculated on the current exchange rate.
If someone wants to offer further prizes, they will be added to those given by the committee; this means more winners too!
Disclaimer
The authors retain every right and property on their submissions; the committee reserves perpetual right to publish and work upon the submissions for activities related to the association itself [including, but not limited to, showing the photos on this website, art shows and selling CD collections].
The personal data will be used exclusively for the purposes of the contest (verify if you can participate, comunications, prizegiving). In no case they will be given to any third party without your explicit consent. We care for your privacy.
Teithad-o-Chalad is patrocinated by the "Faggiorosso" cultural non-profit association for the promotion of JRR Tolkien's work; any profit from the contest will be donated to the association. In case the profits are bigger than its donation quota, the excess will be donated to associations with similar purposes.
The committee reserves the right to cancel the contest at any time. The submissions will not be sent back.
